Associate Professor of Urban Planning
Program Chair, MS Urban Planning Program

Arlie Adkins is an associate professor with appointments in CAPLA's School of Landscape Architecture and Planning and the Health Promotion Sciences Department within the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. His research focuses on understanding the interconnectedness of transportation equity, affordable housing, and various health and safety disparities related to urban transportation systems. He teaches transportation planning, planning theory, and the planning master's capstone studio.

Lecturer in Sustainable Built Environments

Nataliya Apanovich is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work cuts across sustainable agriculture, community development, and cross-cultural collaboration. Her research and teaching focus on food security, circular economy, local food systems, and the socio-ecological dimensions of sustainability. She has led community-engaged, participatory research and fieldwork across East Africa and the U.S. Southwest.

Kristina Currans PhD studies the intersection between transportation and land use development. Although she was trained as a civil engineer, her works spans between the transportation planning and engineering disciplines. Currans' research and teaching emphasizes the rethinking and redeveloping new data and methods for applications in practice to help communities plan for the places they want.

Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture

Kirk Dimond, LEED AP is an associate professor in Landscape Architecture with a BLA from Utah State University and a MS in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. He teaches graduate and undergraduate studios with emphases in landscape performance through optimizing social and ecological synergies and tradeoffs in design decisions relating to ecology, energy, and water.  Over the past few years his research has focused on renewable energy infrastructure and the opportunities and challenges they create in our cities and landscapes. 

Assistant Professor of Real Estate Development and Planning

Daniel Kuhlmann PhD joined the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona as an assistant professor of real estate development and planning in 2022. Before coming to Arizona, he was an assistant professor of community and regional planning at Iowa State University, where he helped launch a new Master of Real Estate Development degree. He has an MA and Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Cornell University and a BA in International Relations from Carleton College.

Clare Robinson PhD is an associate professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Arizona, where she teaches courses in modern architectural history and theory.

Professor of Architectural History

Lisa D. Schrenk PhD is Professor of Architectural History, joining CAPLA in 2012. She received a B.A. from Macalester College with degrees in studio art and geography, a Master’s Degree in Architectural History from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2006 and again in 2012 she was named a Charles A. Dana I Award recipient for excellence in teaching, research, and service at Norwich University.

Chair, Sustainable Built Environments

Philip Stoker is an associate professor of planning in the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. Philip holds a Ph.D. in Metropolitan Planning, Policy, and Design from the University of Utah where he completed his thesis on urban water use and sustainability. His academic foundations are in ecology, planning, and natural resource management. He has conducted environmental and social science research internationally, including work with the World Health Organization, Parks Canada, the National Park Service and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

Sheehan Wachter is a senior lecturer in the School of Architecture at CAPLA, and a designer specializing in digital and material techniques in architecture and sculpture. His work revolves around the application of computational techniques in design and fabrication and his background involves both material research and architectural design.

Mackenzie Waller is a landscape architect, urban designer and assistant professor at the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona. Her work centers on environmental and spatial justice in the urban built environment. Her current research interests explore how the mediums of story, wildlife and play can serve as strategies to co-create desired futures. Her project experience began in environmental restoration and expanded to interdisciplinary approaches to neighborhood and urban public space design.

Eric Weber is an associate professor of architecture and will assist Professor Mary Hardin in completing South Stadium Rowhouses 3+4 in Fall 2021. He is a registered architect in the State of Arizona.

Kenny Wong is a lecturer in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning. He carries experience in the diverse facets of housing design and policy, with a concentration on affordable housing and community development. Driven by commitments to spatial and social justice, he has practiced as a housing advocate, multifamily designer, nonprofit developer, financial consultant, policy analyst and academic researcher between Southern California and the Oakland-East Bay Area.
