1. What brought you to CAPLA, and where did you work before joining the college?

I’m a Tucson native and proud first-generation college graduate. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona and later completed a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

Before joining the CAPLA team, I spent several years as an academic advisor in another department at the University of Arizona. Prior to that, I worked in K–12 education as both an elementary school teacher and assistant principal.

The passion, creativity and drive of the students at CAPLA inspired me to want to work with the incredible students, staff and faculty here. I’m drawn to the college’s commitment to innovative design, interdisciplinary learning and community engagement. Being part of such a dynamic environment excites me, and I’m eager to contribute my skills while continuing to learn and grow from those I work with.

2. Tell us about your current role?

I am joining the CAPLA team as a Senior Undergraduate Academic Advisor. I will be working with all students majoring in Landscape Architecture and Real Estate. I also will be working with Bachelor of Architecture students (last names R-Z) and all minors in Real Estate Development.

As your advisor, I’m here to support you—whether it’s providing academic guidance, connecting you to campus resources or helping you work towards your goals.

3. What do you find most rewarding about your job?

I find great fulfillment in building meaningful relationships with my students and supporting them as they work toward achieving their goals. I especially enjoy guiding them through the process of exploration and self-discovery and watching them grow both academically and personally.

4. What do you find most challenging for your job, and how have you overcome that?

One ongoing challenge I face is that when some students run into difficulties, they hesitate to reach out—even though I’m always here and available to support them. It’s tough to witness their struggles and see them fall short of their goals when they don't ask for help. I’m committed to building a strong relationship with every student and consistently reminding them that I’m part of their support system—and always ready to help.

5. Can you share a favorite story about working with students?

One of my favorite parts of working with students is witnessing their growth and success firsthand. This has led to many memorable stories!

A particularly meaningful success story involves a highly dedicated student who faced significant obstacles on their path to achieving their academic goals. Through a supportive and trusting relationship, the student felt comfortable sharing their challenges, and together we developed short-term goals and actionable steps to move forward. We celebrated small wins along the way, and ultimately, the student not only completed their degree but also secured the job they had been working toward.

Helping a student realize and reach their full potential is truly the most rewarding part of what I do.

6. Beyond your job, what are your passions?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my energetic dachshund, Oscar, and my six nephews. I'm a big fan of strong coffee, binge-worthy TV shows and cheering on Arizona sports teams—Go Cats, D-backs, Cardinals and Suns!

7. What is your advice for students to find success at CAPLA and UArizona?

Make the most of resources like your academic advisor, office hours and faculty. They can offer guidance, answer questions and help you stay on track.

Surround yourself with people who encourage you—whether it’s friends, study groups or mentors. A strong support system can help you stay grounded.

Keep track of important dates and deadlines with a planner or calendar. Staying organized will help reduce stress and keep you ahead of the game.

While academics are important, don’t forget to make time for your passions outside of school. Whether it's hobbies, fitness or downtime, balance helps you stay energized and motivated.

Lastly, this is your time to explore and develop. Embrace new experiences, learn from mistakes and reflect on your personal growth—not just your academic progress.
